What should I expect at the first visit with my medical provider?

Your provider will provide a thorough medical evaluation related to your injury and develop a customized plan to help treat your symptoms. Your provider will work with your chiropractor to develop a comprehensive plan for your treatment.  This plan will evolve during each of your visits as symptoms continue to hopefully improve.

Will I be able to get my blood pressure medications prescribed at my visit?

Our medical team will not be prescribing medications for chronic conditions at your visit. We encourage those medications to be obtained from your primary care provider (PCP). If you do not have a PCP we would be happy to provide you with a contact list.

How will non-opioid medications manage my pain?

The goal of pain management for acute injuries is to allow the patient adequate relief from pain or discomfort to allow for a timely return to normal day to day activities.  Literature has shown that non-opiod medications like nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can provide effective treatment of this acute pain as effectively as opioid pain medications when used with additional treatment modalities (Babatunde, Jordan, Van der Windt, Hill, Foster, & Protheroe, 2017).

Will your provider refer me to an orthopedic surgeon should the need arise, or should I schedule a visit with my primary care provider?

Our in-house medical provider would be happy to refer you to a specialist if treatment extends beyond the scope of practice.

What are trigger point injections and what can I expect?

During trigger point injections the provider will have you sit or lie down for the procedure.  Your provider will locate the area of pain by pressing on the muscle.  The area will be cleansed and then a small needle will be inserted into the area with a small amount of anesthetic. This can be injected into several areas during the visit and takes only minutes.

Are trigger point injections painful?

Trigger point injections are not painful. A small needle stick can be felt at the injection of the medication into the affected muscle, but discomfort lasts seconds. Muscles may be sore for a couple of hours following injection as the muscles relax and release built-up tension.

What are some side effects that may occur with trigger point injections?

Known side effects from trigger point injections include rash, itching, pain, tenderness, soreness, swelling, or redness at the injection site.

How will payment be collected at my visit?

Payment will not be collected at the time of service. Charges will be handled through the medical lien set in place at your initial visit. Our staff would be more than happy to answer any further questions related to payments during your visit.

Can your office provide transportation if my car is no longer operable following my accident?

Transportation may be provided, when necessary, on a case by case basis.
